ZF Rane Automotive India Pvt. 🔷 Job Summary
The In-Process Quality Engineer / Sr. Engineer will be responsible for ensuring product and process quality within the Machine Shop and Assembly Shop. The role includes implementation of robust quality assurance systems, in-process audits, defect reduction initiatives, and real-time process monitoring using statistical tools.
This position requires close coordination with teams from production, machining, tooling, maintenance, and suppliers, along with ensuring adherence to customer requirements and IATF 16949 standards.
🔷 Key Responsibilities
1. In-Process Quality & Assurance
- Monitor and control in-process quality checkpoints in Machine Shop & Assembly Shop
- Ensure machining, heat treatment, and assembly quality requirements are met
- Conduct in-process audits, patrol inspections, and layout inspections as per the control plan
- Ensure defect prevention through process controls and measurement techniques
2. Measurement & Inspection
- Use measuring instruments such as Vernier, Micrometer, Bore Gauge, Height Gauge, CMM, Contour, Surface Roughness Tester, etc.
- Conduct measurement analysis and inspection in the Standards Room
- Maintain calibration of gauges, instruments, and fixtures
3. Quality Tools & Problem Solving
- Apply 7QC Tools, PDCA, A3, and 8D to identify issues and implement corrective actions
- Drive root cause analysis using tools such as Fishbone, 5 Why, Is-Is Not, etc.
- Lead cross-functional teams for problem-solving
4. Quality Systems & Documentation
- Prepare and update Control Plans, Work Instructions, Check Sheets, and SOPs
- Handle customer complaints, CAPA, and documentation as per IATF 16949
- Maintain records of SPC, MSA, PFMEA, and drive updates for continuous improvement
5. Process Improvement
- Analyze process variations using SPC and initiate corrective actions
- Reduce scrap, rework, and rejections through process stabilization
- Collaborate with production and engineering for ongoing process improvement
6. People & Team Handling
- Guide operators, QA inspectors, and production teams on quality checkpoints
- Conduct training on measurement techniques, defect identification, and quality awareness
- Promote a culture of zero-defect manufacturing

- B.E / B.Tech in Mechanical, Automobile, Production, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering
- 4 to 10 years of experience in Tier-1 / Tier-2 Auto Component Manufacturing
- Strong exposure to Machine Shop, Assembly Quality, Precision Machining & Heat Treatment
- Hands-on experience with SPC, MSA, PFMEA, Control plans, and QA tools
- Good understanding of IATF 16949 quality systems
