Maruti Suzuki India Limited is looking for an experienced and result-oriented Toolroom and Procurement Manager to handle end-to-end toolroom operations and strategic procurement activities for the plant. The role requires strong hands-on exposure in cutting tools, CNC machines, vendor management, inventory control, and quality systems, with a clear focus on cost, delivery, and productivity improvement.

Key Responsibilities – Toolroom & Procurement Manager – Maruti Suzuki India Ltd

Procurement & Vendor Management

• Plan and manage procurement of cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, machine shop consumables, and raw materials.
• Develop and manage suppliers, negotiate prices and contracts, and ensure timely availability of tools and spares.
• Work on cost reduction through alternate sourcing, value engineering, and long-term supplier partnerships.
• Handle purchase orders, GRN, challans, and RGP through ERP/SAP.

Toolroom & Inventory Management

• Manage complete toolroom operations including issue, return, tracking, and life monitoring of tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
• Maintain accurate inventory of cutting tools, oils, and child parts with proper stock control and traceability.
• Ensure effective use of Zoller presetting machines and CNC tool grinding / resharpening facilities.

Operations & Quality

• Ensure compliance to Safety, Hygiene, 5S, and ISO systems (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001).
• Support production teams in tool selection, tool life improvement, troubleshooting, and process optimization.
• Conduct and support 4M, 5Why, and root cause analysis for tooling and quality issues.
• Monitor KPIs related to tooling cost, supplier performance, delivery lead time, and productivity.

Leadership & Administration

• Lead and guide toolroom and procurement teams, conduct training, and review performance.
• Plan and control department budget and identify continuous improvement and cost-saving opportunities.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of special cutting tools, tool geometry, coatings, wear analysis, and cutting parameters.
• Hands-on experience with CNC grinding machines, Zoller presetters, VMC, HMC, and SPM.
• Good understanding of tool life management, calibration, and preventive maintenance.
• Practical experience in SAP/ERP for procurement and inventory management.
• Knowledge of automotive quality systems, audits, and continuous improvement tools.

I have around 3–5 years of experience in managing cutting tools, toolroom operations, and procurement activities in an automotive manufacturing environment. My role included vendor development, SAP-based purchasing, tool life monitoring, Zoller presetting, CNC tool grinding, and supporting production to improve productivity and reduce tooling cost.

2. How do you manage cutting tool inventory?

Answer:
I follow ABC analysis, minimum–maximum stock levels, tool life tracking, and FIFO system. All tools are issued and returned through ERP/SAP with proper traceability. Regular physical verification and coordination with production help avoid shortages and excess stock.

3. What is your experience with Zoller machine?

Answer:
I have hands-on experience in tool presetting on Zoller machines including tool measurement, offset setting, runout checking, and tool data transfer to CNC machines to reduce setup time and improve accuracy.

4. How do you reduce tooling cost?

Answer:
By improving tool life, optimizing cutting parameters, resharpening, standardization of tools, alternate vendor development, price negotiation, and value engineering with suppliers.

Answer:
4M means Man, Machine, Material, Method.
5Why is used to find root cause.
