Interview Questions & Answers for Process Engineer – Electrical Maintenance
1️⃣ Q: What experience do you have with Mitsubishi PLC and SCADA systems?
A: I have hands-on experience in developing logic, troubleshooting inputs/outputs, modifying programs, and analyzing faults in Mitsubishi PLCs. I can monitor processes, respond to alarms, and optimize performance using SCADA systems to ensure accuracy and uptime.
2️⃣ Q: What is preventive vs. predictive maintenance?
A: Preventive maintenance is scheduled routine servicing to avoid breakdowns. Predictive maintenance uses real-time data (vibration, temperature, current) to predict faults before failure, helping reduce downtime and costs.
3️⃣ Q: How do you handle an unexpected breakdown?
A: First, I ensure safety lockout-tagout. Then I analyze the fault systematically—electrical circuit, PLC signals, sensors, and power supply. Once the root cause is identified and resolved, I document the breakdown and initiate steps to avoid recurrence.
4️⃣ Q: Why is electrical safety important?
A: Safety prevents injuries, equipment damage, fire hazards, and ensures compliance. Proper PPE, isolation procedures, grounding, and training are critical for safe plant operations.
5️⃣ Q: Which tools do you use for troubleshooting?
A: Multimeter, clamp meter, megger, thermal camera, PLC programming software, calibration tools, and SCADA trending.
Interview Questions & Answers for Group Leader – Mechanical Maintenance
1️⃣ Q: What is your experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems?
A: I have worked with hydraulic pumps, valves, cylinders, hoses, actuators, filters, and pressure settings. I can diagnose leakage, pressure loss, temperature issues, and contamination problems.
2️⃣ Q: How do you reduce breakdown frequency?
A: By implementing predictive maintenance, condition monitoring, correct lubrication practices, spare management, and performing RCA for repeated failures.
3️⃣ Q: What steps do you follow in preventive maintenance planning?
A: Create machine checklist, schedule shutdowns, inspect wear parts, document findings, verify lubrication schedules, and analyze maintenance history.
4️⃣ Q: What is MTTR and MTBF?
A:
MTTR – Mean Time to Repair, time taken to repair and resume operation.
MTBF – Mean Time Between Failures, the average time between equipment failures.
5️⃣ Q: Describe a time you saved cost or prevented a major breakdown.
A: Give an example like early detection of contamination, bearing failure, misalignment, or leak correction that saved production loss.
Interview Questions & Answers for Process Engineer – Process Quality / Quality Engineering
1️⃣ Q: What is PPAP and why is it important?
A: PPAP ensures that the supplier understands customer requirements, and the process consistently produces meeting specifications before mass production. It builds confidence and reduces defects.
2️⃣ Q: Explain FMEA.
A: Failure Mode and Effects Analysis identifies potential failures, their causes, severity, and occurrence, and helps prioritize actions to reduce risk.
3️⃣ Q: What is the difference between Control Plan and Process Flow?
A: Control Plan lists inspection stages, parameters, frequency, and reaction plan. Process flow defines step-by-step manufacturing sequence.
4️⃣ Q: How do you handle customer complaints?
A: Use 8D methodology—Define problem, Contain it, RCA, Corrective Action, Prevention, verify results, document learning, and share.
5️⃣ Q: What are SPC and MSP?
A:
SPC – Statistical Process Control, uses control charts for variation monitoring.
MSP – Measurement System Performance, ensures measurement accuracy and repeatability.
