1. How do you ensure daily production targets are achieved?

Answer:
I start by reviewing the production plan, available manpower, machine capacity, material availability, and previous-day performance. During the shift, I monitor production against the plan and immediately address bottlenecks related to manpower, quality, material, or equipment. At the end of the shift, I review gaps and define corrective actions for the next shift.

2. How do you reduce rejection and rework?

Answer:
I first analyze rejection data using Pareto analysis to identify the major contributors. Then I investigate the root cause using tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone Analysis, and process investigation. After implementing corrective action, I monitor the results to confirm that the rejection has actually reduced and standardize the successful solution.

3. What is TPM and how does it help production?

Answer:
TPM, or Total Productive Maintenance, focuses on maximizing equipment effectiveness by involving production and maintenance teams. Activities such as autonomous maintenance, preventive maintenance, focused improvement, and operator training help reduce breakdowns, improve machine availability, and increase productivity.

4. How do you analyze machine breakdowns?

Answer:
I review the breakdown history and identify whether the problem is electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, operational, or related to preventive maintenance. For recurring failures, I perform RCA and identify permanent corrective actions. I also review spare availability and preventive-maintenance schedules to prevent recurrence.

5. How do you manage production manpower?

Answer:
I plan manpower according to the production requirement and skill matrix. Critical operations should always have trained operators available. I also monitor absenteeism, overtime, operator productivity, and skill gaps and arrange cross-training wherever required.

After restoration, I ensure RCA and preventive actions are completed.

Answer:
I focus on data-driven improvement. I identify major losses in production, quality, downtime, manpower, and material consumption and prioritize them based on their business impact. Kaizen, TPM, line balancing, process optimization, and mistake-proofing can then be used to achieve measurable improvements.
