1) PQC (Process Quality) Lead – Interview Questions & Answers

Q1. What is the difference between PQC and QC?

A: PQC (Process Quality Control) focuses on controlling and improving the quality during the manufacturing process, while QC (Quality Control) mainly checks quality after production. PQC prevents defects; QC detects defects.

Q2. Explain your experience with PCBA quality.

A: I have worked on SMT, reflow, AOI, wave soldering, and functional testing quality. I handled solder joint defects, component misalignment, bridging, tombstoning, and IPC standards to ensure PCB quality.

Q3. What are the major Quality Core Tools?

A: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, and Control Plan. These tools help in planning, monitoring, and controlling quality during new product and ongoing production.

Q4. How do you handle repeated line rejections?

A: I follow a structured approach: data collection → root cause analysis (Ishikawa/5 Why) → corrective actions → validation → monitoring → standardization.

Q5. What is your method for conducting a process audit?

A: I check operator skills, WI adherence, machine settings, tool calibration, material traceability, environmental controls, and process parameters. Findings are reported and tracked through CAPA.

2) Machine Maintenance Engineer – Interview Questions & Answers

Q1. What is Preventive vs Predictive Maintenance?

A: Preventive maintenance is time-based scheduling of maintenance tasks. Predictive maintenance uses machine condition (vibration, temperature, wear) to predict & prevent failure.

Q2. How do you handle a sudden machine breakdown?

A: I ensure safety → diagnose the issue → check machine history → repair/replace parts → run trials → record root cause → update maintenance logs.

Q3. Explain your experience with breakdown analysis.

A: I use tools like 5 Why, fishbone diagrams, and MTBF/MTTR analysis to identify recurring failures and implement long-term solutions.

Q4. What KPIs do you monitor in maintenance?

A: Machine uptime, MTBF, MTTR, spare part consumption, preventive maintenance compliance, and breakdown frequency.

Q5. How do you ensure zero major breakdowns?

A: By following a strict PM schedule, lubrication plan, critical machine monitoring, skill training, and using condition-based monitoring.

3) SMT Assistant Manager – Interview Questions & Answers

Q1. What are the key parameters to control in SMT?

A: Solder paste viscosity, stencil alignment, printing pressure, pick-and-place accuracy, reflow temperature profile, conveyor speed, and AOI parameters.

Q2. What experience do you have with Panasonic SMT machines?

A: I worked on model ___ (Candidate’s machine model). I handled feeder setup, program creation, optimization, vision alignment, maintenance, and cycle time improvement.

Q3. Why does tombstoning occur?

A: Due to uneven wetting forces caused by:

  • Wrong reflow profile

  • Uneven solder paste volume

  • Component size variation

  • Pad design issues

Q4. How do you create a reflow profile?

A: By analyzing component thermal limits, PCB thickness, selecting soak/peak profile, using thermocouples, and adjusting conveyor speed and temperature zones.

Q5. What is your strategy for SMT yield improvement?

A: Real-time defect monitoring → root cause analysis → stencil optimization → machine calibration → operator training → SPC implementation → design review.

4) HR Manager / Sr. HR Manager – Interview Questions & Answers

Q1. What is your experience in manpower planning?

A: I assess department requirements, forecast demand, create yearly manpower budgets, coordinate with HODs, and ensure the right skill-to-role mapping.

Q2. How do you handle labour law compliance?

A: I ensure compliance with PF, ESIC, Factories Act, CLRA, Wages Act, and maintain registers, inspections, audits, and contractor license compliance.

Q3. What steps do you follow during an employee grievance?

A: Listen → investigate → root cause → consult management → corrective action → ensure closure → document process.

Q4. How do you maintain Industrial Relations?

A: Regular union meetings, grievance handling, transparency, compliance, strong communication, and maintaining trust with workers and contractors.

Q5. What HR metrics do you track?

A: Attrition rate, absenteeism, manpower cost, training hours, compliance score, hiring TAT, and employee engagement indicators.
