Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for dimensional engineering activities related to automotive vehicle systems and components.
1. CAD and Drawing Engineering
- Create and manipulate geometry using CATIA V5.
- Work with 2D engineering drawings according to ASME Y14.5-2009 standards.
- Review product geometry and dimensional requirements.
- Support engineering teams with CAD-related dimensional activities.
2. GD&T and Datum Selection
Candidates should have a strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
The role involves:
- Datum selection principles
- Practical application of GD&T
- Dimensional scheme development
- Drawing interpretation
- Tolerance understanding
- Dimensional variation control
3. Digital 3D CAD Reviews
The position requires participation in 3D CAD reviews considering:
- DFM – Design for Manufacturing
- DFA – Design for Assembly
- Dimensional requirements
- Interface conditions
- Manufacturing feasibility
- Product assembly requirements
The engineer may also be involved in sign-off activities related to dimensional engineering.
4. Automotive Dimensional Integration
Experience with dimensional integration between BIW and interface systems is important.
