Internship Position: Intern – Mechanical Engineering

  • Duration: 6 Months (January – June 2026)
  • Location: Pune
  • Department: Product Development – Generator Set (Genset) Systems

This internship gives you the opportunity to work closely with the product development team, supporting engineering activities related to genset systems, components, and requirements management.

Position Summary

Rolls-Royce is looking for a proactive, detail-oriented Mechanical Engineering intern to support the development and documentation of generator set systems. The intern will assist in requirements definition, system documentation, engineering calculations, equipment selection, and adherence to Rolls-Royce engineering standards.

This role allows you to gain deep exposure to mechanical design, system engineering, documentation, and real-world product development workflows.

Key Responsibilities of the Intern – Mechanical Engineering

1. Engineering Design & Documentation

  • Prepare engineering drawings, designs, and technical documents
  • Support customer technical requirement documentation

2. Engineering Calculations & Equipment Selection

  • Perform calculations to verify engineering parameters
  • Select appropriate equipment and potential suppliers
  • Support technical specification development

3. Requirements Management

  • Assist with defining, documenting, and maintaining system and component requirements
  • Ensure alignment with Rolls-Royce engineering guidelines

4. Product & Sales Engineering Support

  • Maintain product information, technical data, and engineering documents
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth design flow

5. Use of Engineering Tools & Software

  • Use CAD software (hands-on CAD/SAP knowledge preferred)
  • Utilize internal engineering tools, databases, and factory standards

6. Presentations & Technical Training Support

  • Prepare technical presentations and training material
  • Assist with documentation for internal and external stakeholders

7. Procurement Coordination

  • Raise purchase requisitions related to engineering deliverables
  • Support order clarification and documentation verification

Candidate Profile – What Rolls-Royce Is Looking For

Educational Qualifications

  • Graduate / Post Graduate in Mechanical Engineering

Technical Skills & Experience

  • Practical exposure to engineering projects (academic or industrial)
  • Experience in diesel genset systems, site supervision, or commissioning (preferred)
  • Understanding of electrical power systems and genset control systems
  • Knowledge of engine functioning and applications
  • CAD skills (AutoCAD preferred)
  • Familiarity with SAP or engineering databases is an advantage
